Direct TV DVR and NFL Sunday Ticket

Fall is the best time of year. No not just because of the cooler temperatures and the falling leaves, but because it is now time for some football.
The NFL season is awesome because after two weeks of almost nothing on TV as far as sports, suddenly you are drenched with plenty of games every weekend. A baseball game is great live, but watching it on TV puts a man to sleep. At least the Beijing Olympics provided some sports action this year.
I love both the college and the pro games for different factors. The excitement involved in the college game is like nothing else. Every weekend, thousands of screaming fans fill up local stadiums in an effort to push the home team to victory. With the expansion of network TV cash, there are usually great matchups on every Thursday and Saturday night as well. While I don’t really like the BCS system that is in place in the college ranks, one benefit to the setup is that every regular season matchup really is big. A college team might get away with one loss during the year, but if they want a shot at the title, then they cannot afford to lose twice.
The NFL is a different beast, but just as good in my opinion. Again the passion is amazing, especially in the great NFL cities like Boston, Oakland, Chicago, and New York. What makes the NFL interesting for many fans is the expansion of fantasy football. Sure some people go a little overboard, in that they spend all of their free time evaluating their players and proposing ridiculous trades to the other owners in the league. But if you get in with the right set of guys and gals, then fantasy football makes all of the matchups much more interesting.
This season I had to re-evaluate my TV, as Cox TV continued to disappoint me as far at their service and pricing. Fortunately, I had a couple of choices, as U-verse service is now in my area, as well as satellite TV. After looking into my choices, I discovered there are great satellite television deals going on right now. So then it became the old DirecTV vs DISH Network debate Being the huge fan that I am, I just couldn’t pass up the Sunday Ticket package that they offer. In addition, they offer great college football packages, including the Gameplan from ESPN. Overall, there is just more for your money when comparing DirecTV to Comcast. Plus, you just can’t beat the Direct TV DVR.
My wife may not like that choice, but at least she will know where I will be, right in front of the television this fall!
